Introduction

My name is Alejandro Castellanos. I'm a nonprofessional photographer studying Mechatronics in Germany. My greatest passion in life is M U S I C and everything that has to do with it: from playing the guitar to designing the circuitry of a pedal. Being an engineer has made me used to observe, analyze and quantify. I have been taught to systemize my life in order to achieve the maximum efficiency, constantly searching for the option that maximizes the output. I am formulaic, periodic, clyclic... almost a machine.

Music is a way to feel human again. Its the vehicle through which humanity pours back into me. Its the only way that I can feel my body connecting with my S O U L, and thus, feeling as complete one can be. One cannot quantify or mechanize art, because it breathes in a different dimension! One thing is sure: it can be appreciated. That's what this blog is about: Feeling the music, trapping the moment... Transforming Music into Images. Making it possible to experience a simple note, or a beautiful harmony, all inside the constant limits of pictures.

If you ever wandered what would Led Zeppelin would do if they were still around, you should probably listen to Rival Sons. Their fresh new aproach to old style music is unique and worthy of a good listen. Singer John Buchanan has an amazing and soulful voice, and he knows exactly just how to use it. Burden @Berlin, DE

Date: 25.11.2011
Venue: Lido

I got to see Burden while they where doing their supporting tour with Rival Sons. They are German based band that have been playing Sludge Metal for some years now. Touring around Germany supporting bands such as Mastodon has made them gain a good fan base, and with a good reason. The energy they display in stage is only matched by their talent. Listen to them here. Enjoy the pics!

Cayoux @Magdeburg, DE

Date: 24.11.2011
Venue: Festung Mark

Cayoux is a Contrabass/Voice Jazz duet formed by Marcel Siegel and Annika Bosch. I had the pleasure of listening to their music while they supported Chapeau Claque on their tour around Germany. The music is soothing and calming, the perfect companion for a nice peaceful evening. They compensate their low number of on-stage-musicians by the use of loopers. Looping the guitar and voice gives the music a deeper feel, fuller, better. I hope you can enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed their performance!

Inventurer @Magdeburg, DE

Date: 21.11.2011
Venue: Riff Bar

Inventurer is the stage name of composer, producer and songwriter Michael Palmer. His music is a sublime mix of pop, rock and folk sentiments. Born in Zimbabwe in the days of colonial Britain, Michael started life with aspirations to be a painter or cartoonist. But soon (after realising that most of his paintings were of musical instruments!) he realised his true calling was music.

As said by Palmer himself: "Songs for you and your headphones - best listened to with a glass of red wine and a quiet still evening"

Steve Lukather @Berlin, DE

Date: 12.10.2011
Venue: Postbahnhof

Steve Lukather has been around for a while now. His work with Toto and as a session guitarist are impressive. Nevertheless, his solo albums are what attracted me to his music. To be more specific, the song "On my way home" was what made me fall in love with his style. His delicate fusion of jazz and rock are unique in the music industry.

When I got wind of his concert in Berlin, I was excited to finally see him live. The concert took place in an old train station on the west side of Berlin, next to a section of the Belin Wall. It was a two hour show where magic and reality fused into a merge destined to be great.

Royal Republic @Madeburg, DE

Date: 15.10.2011

This is the band that started it all, since they are the first band that I ever Officially took pictures of. The concert was part of the "We are the Royal" tour. I had such a nice experience meeting the band and attending the concert. At first, I was really nervous beause I didnt want to screw up "my frist gig", so I took all the precautions that I could imagine: empty your memory card and charge the battery. I think the end result was good to be my first attempt at Concert Photography. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
